Daily Gospel: Things should not be forced

When the days for Jesus to be taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem,
and he sent messengers ahead of him. On the way they entered a Samaritan village to prepare for his reception there,
but they would not welcome him because the destination of his journey was Jerusalem.
When the disciples James and John saw this they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?"
Jesus turned and rebuked them,
and they journeyed to another village. - Luke 9:51-56

Reflection: There are many instances in our lives that we tend to fail on our goals or find ourselves so far from the things we desire. Such times would drive us to be desperate enough to move towards those things yet at some point, we still find ourselves very far. During those situations, we are sometimes called not to force ourselves in obtaining such things. It would be better for us to look for another endeavor and strive for that new found life.
